Most disputes on machinery parts imports to Saudi Arabia start with classification, not with the supplier. Undercarriage and attachment parts normally sit in the 8431 heading (parts suitable for use solely or principally with the machinery of headings 8425 to 8430). Ground engaging tools, buckets and cutting edges can also be classified with the machine they fit. Your broker's classification determines duty, and it must match what is written on the invoice and the packing list.
Practical rules:
Saudi Arabia operates the SABER system: the exporter (or the importer's agent) registers the shipment and obtains a Certificate of Conformity through a recognised body. Whether your consignment needs one depends on the product category. Steel undercarriage parts are normally outside the electrical and PPE categories, but machinery can be caught by specific technical regulations - confirm with your broker before the container sails.
The documents we prepare on every shipment:
| Route | Mode | Port-to-port | Typical cargo |
|---|---|---|---|
| Shanghai / Ningbo - Dammam | FCL | 22-30 days | Full containers, mixed parts |
| Shanghai / Ningbo - Jeddah | FCL | 25-35 days | Full containers |
| Any Chinese port - Riyadh | Air | 5-8 days | Urgent single items |
Cost is driven by volume, not weight, for most undercarriage items: a container of track chains and rollers will cube out long before it weighs out. That is why consolidating several orders into one container almost always beats shipping twice.
For a first order we work on 30% deposit against the proforma invoice and 70% before shipment, with full export documentation. For repeat customers we can discuss other structures.
Send the machine model, serial number, the parts you need and the quantity. If you are comparing suppliers, ask each one to state the quality tier (OEM, premium aftermarket, standard aftermarket) and the country of origin - two quotations for "a track roller" are rarely for the same part.
