Concrete Mixer Reducer: ZF vs PMP vs TOP — What to Know

ConPartsWorld — B2B sourcing partner for construction machinery & heavy truck parts from China

What a Mixer Reducer Does

The reducer (gearbox) takes the hydraulic motor output and reduces it to drive the mixing drum at the right torque and speed. It is the heart of the mixer drive system — failure means the truck cannot discharge its load.

Most Chinese mixers use planetary reducers in the ZF/PMP/TOP design family. While brands differ, the architecture is similar: a planetary gear set, input flange, and drum-side oil seal.

Our ZF-style reducer page and TOP-style reducer page cover the most common systems.

ZF-Style Reducers

ZF-style reducers (P4300/P5300 family) are the reference design, used on many premium mixers. High torque capacity, proven reliability. Common service items: bowl seal, input seal, gasket set.

Genuine ZF parts are expensive; verified aftermarket seal kits and gears offer the same fit at lower cost.

PMP & TOP-Style Reducers

PMP-style reducers (PMP7.8/PMP9.4) and TOP-style (P90) are widely used on Chinese mixer trucks. Internal parts — planet gears, sun gears, ring gears — are interchangeable within design families.

We stock PMP7.8 planet gears, TOP P90 sun gears and complete reducers.

Choosing the Right Reducer Parts

Send us your reducer model, mixer brand and drum capacity. We cross-reference internal gears, seals and gaskets to the exact OEM numbers.

A complete seal kit for a full overhaul costs a fraction of a new reducer — most operators rebuild rather than replace.
